I’m not really that into Hip Hop -I’m more of a rockchick, but this video came up when I was working my way around the internet searching for sites that could tell me more about the modern music and culture in Africa. (It’s one of my dreams to work in Africa in the future) The film, made by director Charlie Aheran, caught my attention, and got stuck !
Balozi Dola, a member of the East African rap group “Deplowmatz”, traveled from Tanzania to New York and the Bronx looking for some real Hip Hop. He wanders by accident into a barbershop in the Bronx where he meets DJ Easy Mike, Grand Master Caz and the shop sweeper DOA. Grand Master Caz and Balozi ends up doing some rhymes, each on their native tounge -American and Swahili.
This film is Amazing with a capital A -see for your self!
Yesterday I got my first answer from The American Embassy in Norway.
Something popped in to my email yesterday, a mail from the embassy! Yey!
I sent them an email a couple of days ago (a bit late I know..), asking about the different ways to apply for a visa. Some of the things I asked for were how the actual rules are for the Work Visa application, and it seems like it’s more difficult than I thought. Also they didn’t answer my other questions (I sent a pretty long and well, perhaps a bit messy mail..), so I’m waiting for a new answer next week.
I’ll try to give you a summary of what I’ve learned so far, both by the answer from the embassy and from the different websites (US.gov, and the embassy) For part 1 I have written down the rules for The Visa Waiver Program and the Working Visa. I’m not thinking of moving permanently, so the applications for Green card and such are left out -eventhough applying for a work visa also goes trough USCIS (United States Citizenship & Immigration Services) .
A couple of months ago I discovered a video on Youtube -and became interested. It’s a wonder that I haven’t seen it before, but I guess there are a lot of things going by when there’s so much to see out there! -well, now I have seen it, and this is really a great story [...]

It’s almost 7.30 am in Norway, and I’m wide awake -I haven’t closed my eyes for a minute since yesterday at noon. My last exam for the year starts in about one and a half hour -am I ready for it? Well, to be frank I don’t know -“Going Down the Crooked Road” seems like [...]

Love it!
“Behind the storms of daily conflict, crisis and struggle, it is the artist, and the poet and the musician that continues the quiet work of the centuries, building bridges of experience between peoples, and reminding us the universality of our feelings, desires, and despairs, and reminding us that the forces that unite are deeper than those that divide." -Mark Johnson
